Can You Identify The Maker Without Marks?
by Vickie
(USA)
I have just purchased two figurines - a couple - 13" tall - looks like it may be Meissen repos'(or Capodimonte or other) or maybe even prototypes (which I'm aware that many times they would not have marks). I have not yet received them, but I have pictures. They are beautiful, and it looks like they may have originally been on a separate base, so they have no marks on the undersides that are now exposed, with the exception of a factory number. The Seller's Mother bought them second hand at least 40-50 years ago. They may very well be modern, and that is fine. I will be pleased with them regardless of where they come from!
I can upload a few of the pictures. Are you able to give me an idea of who the Maker is, at all?
I'd greatly appreciate your help! ============================================= Hi Vickie, Your are asking a lot to identify without marks, from photos. An expert would need to handle them to literally get the feel of them and check their condition etc. It sounds as though you have something very beautiful though. The factory numbers will help an expert to identify them as each factory worked within different sets of numbers. If they are missing a base, it sounds a bit of a problem for values - but they would not have put any marks on if the base as you have it was not meant to be seen. This is interesting. Why do you think that they are missing a base?
You obviously love them so if the maker cannot be identified - simply enjoy them. If you send in photos, I will see if I recognize the style or factory.
Best regards
Tony
