Catherine Middleton Figurine
Our new Catherine Middleton figurine has been started by top Royal sculptor, John Bromley.
This page shows details of the latest stages in our quest to produce the finest figurine of Catherine Middleton in her wedding dress, produced anywhere in the world. We are posting a continuing set of images as the figurine develops to show the work in progress.
PLEASE NOTE - The photographs here show both the unfinished original clay model and the first cast complete with her fabulous bouquet of hand made china flowers. There is still much work to do before in our mission to transform her into a finished figurine made in the finest English bone china.
Her bouquet, so expertly crafted by flower-maker Denise Lilley, is a testament to the enduring skills of English potters.
Denise delicately applies the final few flowers to complete her tour de force of flower making to complete an exciting moment as the first cast nears completion, ready to be fired and move on to its next stage of its journey to becoming one of the most sought after figures for a long time.
Even without the lace details applied and with a simple mock-up of the bouquet that will eventually be full of hand made flowers, John's tribute to Catherine Middleton is looking like a future heirloom already.

The long awaited kiss sealed the occasion for everyone watching around the world. John Bromley now could complete his equally long awaited Catherine Middleton figurine. With such a beautiful dress, and when Kate herself looking absolutely radiant, how could he fail to do her full justice.
Although John had put such a lot of work into the model to get to this stage, there was still so much to do. John would not rest until he had completed the figurine in all aspects of the details of fine lace and flow of the dress together with further refining of Catherine's face.

Many hours of detailed work remained until John Bromley was be satisfied enough to let his original model go to be moulded and it could start the long journey to becoming a classic, fine bone china figurine.
Great efforts have been made to get the flow of the dress looking right before hours of work started in the application of the lace details.
John started sculpting in anticipation of the big day.

John with the rough model that he started before the royal wedding. It showed a remarkable likeness of Kate Middleton, although he more or less started again once he saw Kate on her wedding day. Now he was able to complete his important work and finish off his masterpiece - his Catherine Middleton Figurine.
John's new Kate Middleton figurine is the latest of a long line of royal brides that he has sculpted. He has worked on figures of every important British royal bride from Queen Victoria onwards, Including William's mother, Princess Diana, of course.

The very early stage of the original, pre-wedding model showing how John had concentrated on getting a good likeness.
The new figurine is just as special as any that have gone before it. He had produced an amazing likeness of her already but he needed to start again to get her expression and hair correct to the vision that we saw on her wedding day. It is hard to think of anyone else more able to do justice to this lovely subject.
We have posting photos as the figure as it developed during the sculpting, moulding and prototype casting stage. We hope that this is an interesting testimonial to the development of a major piece of ceramic art.
