china figurine query

by Joy Ahern
(France)

==================================================Re. China figurine of a lady carrying a parasol
==================================================
Dear Joy,

It is very hard to identify china figurines without a photograph of the piece and also the backstamp mark. With a 19th century style, it could be anything from an original of the 1800's to a modern reproduction or piece influenced by the romanticism of the period.

A matt finish suggests porcelain as bone china figurines are nearly always glazed. This also suggests it to be a continental piece although Coalport did make porcelain figurines until quite recently.

Would it be possible to send an image? If you are not sure about how to do it, check out Peter Holland's own site where he gives instructions on doing just this.

I know you might think that it is too dificult, but submitters please note, you can merge two or more photos into one and then upload. Here is a quick link to the ‘submit form’ for this public pottery marks forum.

If anyone needs to know what a merged image should look like go to Patrick's J M mark submission here.

If you don't know how to merge photos, you can use Peter's photo service.

I hope that this helps.

Best regards

Tony

I have a lady figurine carrying a parasol possibly 19th century style of dress. The mark underneath is a blue tiara/coronet with a capitol A underneath. Could someone identify the maker please also possible age? It has a matt finish.Thank you.
