China figurines query for marks
China figurines query for marks. Hi, I bought this two figurines in Spain in an antique dealer shop. I would like to know what type of porcelain it is, because I am incapable of finding any information about it on the net. Thank you very much. Best regards. Adrien

To:- Period Figurines Crossed Arrows Pottery Mark
Hi Adrien
Many thanks for your photos and story regarding your china figurines. To be honest, I would say that these were nice figures but are copies of 18th century figures. The seem to be made of hard-paste porcelain. This particular mark is ofter faked, particularly from a New York based importer from Japan called Arnart or Homco. They are imitating the mark of quality German makers called 'Kalk' Porcelain of Eisenberg in Thuringia (1900 - 1973), formerly Geyer & Körbitz (1890 - 1900).
I am not an expert in identifying fakes, but the figurines in the picture don't seem to have the fineness of detail associated with genuine Kalk. The decoration is very pretty, but in fact, you would be hard pressed to find a genuine Kalk, as there is a proliferation on the fakes around. If you saw a real one you would probably spot the difference immediately.
The main thing is that you like the pieces that you have in their own right.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
