"English Garden" by Basia Zarzycka, modelled by Peter Holland
"English Garden" make-up Will this figurine have the black face make-up and black collar the model has? I love the flowers and the leaves in this design, although I am not quite sure about the harshness depicted by the designer for such a beautiful dress.
Thanks Cheryl ================================================== Reply by Peter Holland.
The make up for "English Garden" was created by Basia and her team at the time of our photoshoot that gave us the images that you see on our website. This is the complete image that Basia saw for her creation.
With our figurine, however, each one of the very low edition will be hand-made personally to order - so there is no reason why you should not have more conventional make-up if you wish for your figurine.
I have thought for while, that when we produce our original prototype, I would like to show the figure with a face that is just like the real life model's face and one version with a simpler, more conventional make-up.
With regard to the lace collar, I think that it has to be black to keep the drama of the outfit. Having a black hat, boots and collar seems to work, even in a conventional way, keeping them matching. When I modelled the original sculpture, the lace collar was so important to the overall look, together with the hat and everything else, I cannot imagine it any different now.
From a modelling point of view, I obviously cannot model make-up. I have to sculpt the face underneath, so the beauty for me is in her bone structure and pose. I always try to visualize the final piece and imagine it in colour even though my sculpture is in grey clay. With "English Garden", Basia has worked so hard to get across her idea of modern beauty in her unconventional sense, that I would prefer to see the final figurine stay with that vision.
Whether her face has the 'full-on' make-up of the model or a more 'normal' version, we intend to make sure that this will be an absolutely beautiful, original work of art, full of character and a joy to own for those lucky enough to have her. Also remember that because Basia will have number one in the edition, only twenty-four other people will ever be able to own one of these stunning figurines.
Whatever makeup choice you prefer, I would love to think that you are one of them.
Regards
Peter
