Fursenberg china querie
by Jessica Rich
(Va.)
It says West Germany (kind of hard to read)
We were on your website and we saw that this signature was a furstenberg and we would like to know if the design has a name or some way to identify it. It's four inches long. we don't know if you value things but if you do, we would like to know the value of it. It came in a set of five, same size plates. Thanks. ================================================= Furstenberg plate enquiry Dear Jessica, Are all 5 plates identical? It is a very pretty pattern, but it looks like a print to me rather than being hand painted. If they are identical, they are prints - if there is a slight variation, they will be hand painted.
If they are prints, they will not have so much value and should be enjoyed as pretty plates. If they were hand painted, they would be worth more because of the work involved in producing them.
Furstenberg is a good manufacturer of quality porcelain. They started after Meissen in 1747 and became the second German royal porcelain company. Your plates are quite recent and were made after the War because of the West Germany label. I cannot give any exact value or a name for the pattern.
They probably know it by the numbers on the backstamp - 3299. (your photo is back to front, by the way (a mirror image) I'm not sure how you did that!. The best way to get a value would be to take them to a local antique dealer and ask their opinion. It is very difficult to give values online from a photograph.
I hope that this helps.
Regards
Tony
