A William and Kate Wedding Celebration In a Personal Tribute by Peter Holland
Remembered as the 'William and Kate wedding' - To celebrate the perfect union of Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Peter Holland has produced a lasting, personal tribute.

The William and Kate wedding figurine measure an impressive 12 inches (30cms) high, approximately
Rather than make a conventional figurative study, Peter Holland has looked into the past and been inspired by traditional Staffordshire flatbacks to use as a starting point to his affectionate take on the royal wedding. By freeing up his creative thoughts, he has been able to incorporate seemingly diverse elements to the decoration.
Peter has been able to let his imagination run free without the need to be 'realistic'. His low-relief study of Westminster Abbey adds a finishing detail to this charming William and Kate wedding piece.
The photo below shows the lovely detail in Peter Holland's original clay model.
When creativity is give the freedom to explore further than the conventional, the result is often something that surpasses the ordinary. With Peter's commemoration of the Prince William and Kate Wedding, we see a contemporary link to the past but with a forward looking view of monarchy.
The back of the piece will feature a decorative cartouche with the words, “To Commemorate the Marriage of Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, 29th April 2011 at Westminster Abbey” together with details of the limited edition and manufacturing information.

A personal statement by sculptor, Peter Holland -
My portrait is above all to do with affection.
“I have always been fascinated by the raw energy of the 18th Century Staffordshire flatback genre.
This art was ‘of the moment’ and very direct, made simply, as a commentary on the life of the times. This art form was sometimes fun, sometimes political or satirical, sometimes gossipy, other times affectionate. To my mind, with all the Royal Wedding memorabilia around, I wanted to produce something for the William and Kate wedding that had all those elements of this older form of commemoration.
Above all though, I wanted to show the sign of the times – the pure unadulterated affection the nation holds these young Royals in at this moment in time.... the generation of the children of Diana growing up. These children are a similar age to my children and are less formal, less stuffy, less rigid about what the right thing is for Royal to do or not to do. My portrait is above all to do with affection. The affection they have for each other and the affection we have for them. This is a sweet moment in time. The piece is allegorical. Every detail of it has a deeper meaning, with some references obvious and others for me to know. Collectors are able to reason or read into it what they want or desire. "
Traditional Staffordshire flatbacks often drew on contemporary events as a source for their invention."
